Top-ranked Mission Viejo hit five home runs and Taylor McQuillin pitched her fifth no-hitter of the season as the Diablos defeated El Toro, 10-0, in a South Coast League softball game Monday afternoon.

The five home runs give Mission Viejo 40 for the season, two short of tying the CIF-SS record. Santiago of Corona set the record with 42 in 2011. (Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story wrongly credited Mission Viejo with 42 HRs this season.)

McQuillin struck out 17 as she earned her 98th career victory, two wins short of the CIF-SS all-time record. She’ll have a chance to earn her 99th career win Wednesday against No. 3 Pacifica in a nonleague game at Mission Viejo.

Mission Viejo has won 30 consecutive games.

Camryn Ybarra hit two of the home runs Monday, and Terra McGowan, Bella Loya and Samantha Dees each added one.
