GAME OF THE NIGHT

No. 10 Mater Dei vs. El Toro, at Mater Dei (doubleheader)

No. 10 Mater Dei 10, El Toro 2
The Monarchs scored three runs in the second and seven in the third to roll to victory in their season opener.

Michael Thomas went the distance (7IP, 2R, 2ER, 3H, 2K, 4BB) and collected the victory.

The hitting stars were Grant Burton (2-4, R, 3RBI, HR) and Josh Stephen (2-3).

For El Toro, Jake Jackson (1-3, R, 2RBI) had a home run, and Carsen Negrete went 1-2 with a run scored.

Josh Zamora hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, and Noah Fluman (1-0) dominated on the mound (6IP, 4R, 4ER, 7H, 10K, BB) to give the Chargers a victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

Among the hitters stars were El Toro's Stone Shiffman (4-4, 2R), and Mater Dei's Grant Burton (2-4, R, 3RBI, HR) and Josh Stephen (2-3).

Raul Salazar (7IP, 3H, 8K) had a dominating performance on the mound for the Centurions, while Domonic Fletcher (2-4, HR, 4RBI) starred at the plate.

Servite 5, No. 6 Los Alamitos 1
Senior outfielder Aaron Simpson drove in three runs with a double as the Friars improved their record to 3-0.

Estancia 5, Brethren Christian 0
Estancia dominated with a trio of pitchers that rang up 10 strikeouts overall.

Brian Rodriguez (5IP, 2H, 5K, 2BB) got his first win of the season. Colin Gardner (1IP, 3 K) and Connor Brown (1IP, 2 K) finished the game.

The hitting stars were Trevor Brown (2-3, R, RBI), Jake McIntyre (2-3, 2 R, RBI, 3B, SB), Tyler Ross (2-3, 22B) and Nick Torres (1-3, R, 3B).

Bolsa Grande 3, Saddleback 2
Travis Nguyen (1-0) went the distance (7IP, 2R, 5H, 5K, 3BB) for the Matadors.

For Saddleback, Richard Gortarez (1-4) and Angel Torres (2-3) starred at the plate.
