El Modena (4-7) vs. Santiago (8-3)
Where, when: Garden Grove High, Thursday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Santiago pulled off a mild upset over Orange Coast League champ Estancia in the first round, but will likely need a little more offense to take down El Modena in the second. The Cavaliers benefited from an interception returned for a touchdown by Junior Ortega to help edge Estancia, but didn’t have a rusher or passer exceed 100 yards. El Modena, which took down Orange League champion Katella in the first round, has played significantly tougher competition this season. Junior running back Kenneth Lamb, who ran for 120 yards and caught a touchdown pass against Katella, will likely be the focus for the Vanguards offensively.
