Poly and Lakewood won first-round CIF-SS Division 2 boys volleyball matches Tuesday and hit the road for second-round tilts today.
The Jackrabbits (28-5) will play Burbank Burroughs at 7 p.m., and Lakewood (26-7) will travels farther up the coast for a match against Dos Pueblos.
If the teams win Thursday, they advance to quarterfinal matchups Saturday. The semifinals and finals are scheduled for next week.
Other area teams advancing to the second round were St. John Bosco, Gahr and Firebaugh.
Tennis teams advance
Moore League co-champ Poly and Wilson both advanced in the CIF-SS boys tennis team tournaments Wednesday.
The Jackrabbits took down Quartz Hill 15-3, and the Bruins prevailed 11-7 over Mission Viewpoint. They’ll each play second-round matches Friday.
Millikan, a wild-card winner Tuesday, was defeated handily by top seed Placentia Valencia, 16-2.
Los Alamitos was a 14-4 winner in its Division 1 first-round match against Dana Hills. Cerritos also advanced to the second round with a 13-5 win over Malibu.
