Phil Roh announced Wednesday morning he has resigned after one season as Northwood’s head football coach.
No replacement has been made for Roh. Northwood was 1-9 this past season.
Roh said he is stepping down to spend more time with his family. His wife is expecting the couple’s second daughter in May.
The statement from Roh:
“I got some good news and some not so good news (I guess depending on how you look at it). The good news is that my wife and I are expecting our second child in May. A true blessing definitely, but with this comes the not-so-good news that I will be stepping down as the Head Football Coach at Northwood High School.
“And while I’m regretful that I won’t be able to continue to build upon the foundation we put into place this year, it was a decision that had to be made for the good of the family and to honor my calling as a husband and father first. My decision had absolutely nothing to do with our record this season because we won in so many other important ways. And I will forever stand by the young men I was blessed to lead. The decision has everything to do with family. And that’s how it should be.
“As for coaching next year, I believe it would be best to let the next head coach have the freedom to shape the staff however he or she sees fit.”
