The question of who would be playing in the regional finals was answered on Tuesday, but the where remained an unknown for all three county finalists up until Wednesday.

Orangewood Academy and Mater Dei will officially be kicking off this weekend’s slate of Southern California Regional championship games as Spartans coach Leslie Aragon confirmed on Wednesday the Division II finale between the local powers will be held at Vanguard University on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Being a Seventh-day Adventist school, Orangewood Academy observes the Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, meaning the team could only play on Friday afternoon or late Saturday evening. Further complicating matters was the fact that the Spartans were unable to host the game in their own gym because of a limited seating capacity.

That will not be an issue at Vanguard.

Rosary was the only other county school to advance to a regional final. The Royals will play Serra of San Diego on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Division III finale. Rosary Athletic Director Tom Tice said the site of the game would not be confirmed until Thursday. Rosary and Servite High are both potential venues.

General admission tickets for both finals will be $12. Seniors, children and high school students will be charged $8 for entrance.
