He passed for an Orange County-record nine touchdowns in the a 68-55 win over Bell. The 6-4, 210-pound junior completed 27 of 39 passes for 490 yards and ran for a touchdown. His nine touchdown passes broke the record of seven set in 1987 by Capistrano Valley’s Burt Call, who now is Mater Dei’s baseball coach, and tied the CIF-Southern Section record. Commans leads O.C. in passing yards with 1,498. He is averaging 378 passing yards a game.
