Villa Park cornerback Darrius Outland, a Fresno State commit ranked No. 52 on the Hot 150, has returned to University, his school of three years, Trojans football Mark Cunningham confirmed Thursday.

Outland (5-11, 178) told University at the end of last school year that he was going to transfer to Villa Park but returned Wednesday to his home school, Cunningham said.

Cunningham said the senior is immediately eligible at University but added, “he’s got to earn his position back.”

“He and has family came to a decisioin that they wanted to come back to Uni,” Cunningham said.

University opens the season Sept. 2 against visiting Laguna Hills. At some point this fall, the Trojans could feature an outstanding set of senior cornerbacks in Outland and returing starter Jalen Roberts (5-9, 160). University also could play seven returning starters on defense.
