HUNTINGTON BEACH – Some players would be content to score 16 points in a game.

Friday night, guards Zamir Kelly and Paul Head compressed their scoring in bunches as Ocean View routed Segerstrom, 77-44, in a Golden West League game at Ocean View.

Kelly, a 5-foot-11 senior, scored 20 points in the game but had 17 of them in the first half as the Seahawks (19-4, 6-0) ran out to a 40-22 halftime lead. He scored the final seven points in the first quarter.

Head, a 6-2 sophomore guard, scored 25 points, 16 in a third quarter the Seahawks dominated, 26-8. Four of his six field goals in the quarter were 3-pointers.

Christian Anderson added 10 points and Bryson Betti 10. Isaiah Bolden-Robinson led Segerstrom (12-9, 2-4) with 14 points.

“The thing we’ve done best the last month and a half is play faster and really bring our defense into focus,” Ocean View coach Tim Walsh said.

“We felt coming into the season that we had a good team. What we have is great energy from the entire team. We can bring guys off the bench and keep that intensity going.”

Ocean View, ranked 13th in CIF-SS Division 3A, trailed early, 10-9, but went on a 10-2 run to close the quarter. Kelly hit a 3-pointer, drove the lane for a field goal and hit a jumper from the lane to finish the quarter.

The lead was still seven when the Seahawks had an 11-0 run in the second quarter.
