YORBA LINDA – Capistrano Valley Christian’s Ben Sukut got his hands on the ball seven times –three runs and four pass receptions – Saturday against Fairmont Prep. He scored four touchdowns in a 55-14 victory in a San Joaquin League game at Yorba Linda High.

“We should get him the ball more, shouldn’t we?” CVC coach Erik Preszler said.

The Eagles (5-3, 2-1) didn’t need Sukut more than that against the Huskies (2-6, 1-3). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior had three touchdowns, on an 86-yard run on the first play from scrimmage, a run of 17 and a pass from quarterback Riley Babick for 32, in the first quarter as CVC took a 28-0 lead.

“Ben is a game changer, no doubt about it,” Preszler said.

NCAA Division I schools are courting Sukut, who plays running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He runs their kind of speed in the 40, 4.5 seconds.

“He’s been offered (scholarships) by BYU, Arkansas State and San Diego State and he’s got a whole bunch of other people recruiting him,” Preszler said.

Sukut rushed three times for 114 yards and caught four passes for 69. His fourth touchdown was a 17 yard reception from Babich.

Tailback KCI Thompson scored on runs of 27 and 50 for the Eagles. He had 107 yards on seven carries.

“Ben is the kind of kid everybody on the opposing teams prepares their game plan for to try to take him away,” Preszler said. “We need to stay balanced. When we do that, we’re pretty dangerous.”

Ramsey Glover had touchdown receptions of 11 and 17 from quarterback Darwyn Gines for Fairmont Prep. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Glover had six catches for 62 yards.

“Fairmont plays hard and they have some guys who play football the right way,” Preszler said. “They definitely did some good things.”
