Breaking down Division 4A of the girls basketball playoffs:

DIVISION 4A

Top seeds: Fairmont Prep, St. Paul, Cantwell-Sacred Heart, Marymount

County representatives: Fairmont Prep, St. Margaret’s, Crean Lutheran, Whittier Christian
Rapid Reaction: You hope to be peaking as March approaches, and that’s exactly what Fairmont Prep appears to be doing. Since a five-point loss to Orangewood Academy in late January, the Huskies have reeled off five straight wins by margins of 39, 38, 22, 29 and 37 points. Talk about rebounding.

Cierra Hall, Samantha Clement and Tristen Rollon are all averaging more than 13 points a game for the Huskies, giving them one of the division’s most dynamic trios. With the exception of Hall, a good core of Fairmont’s roster advanced to last season’s 4A final. The Huskies don’t need to be reminded of the six-point loss they suffered in the championship game, but they’ll certainly use that as motivation moving forward this year.

When you consider how they’re playing, they’ve got to be the clear-cut favorite in the division.
