Baseball updates: Pouelsen to have surgery; Shockey has broken hand

STAFF REPORT

Our reporter, Andrew Turner, tracked down updates today on status of JSerra center fielder Brady Shockey and Huntington Beach pitcher Logan Pouelsen.

Huntington Beach coach Benji Medure said Pouelsen, who has signed with UCLA, will need Tommy John surgery on his right arm and will miss the rest of this season. Pouelsen was injured while pitching in a game on Feb. 29.

JSerra coach Brett Kay said Shockey suffered a broken hand while taking a swing, and he might be able to return for the Boras Classic, which starts March 29.
