2008-09 All-County Basketball first team

Gary Franklin

Mater Dei, Jr., Guard, 6-3

Season highlights:He scored a game-high 21 points in Mater Dei's victory over Etiwanda in a CIF-Southern Section Division I-AA semifinal. Franklin scored 18 points in the Monarchs' victory over Chino Hills in the CIF Southern California Regionals. His 16 points led Mater Dei in a victory over St. John Bosco of Bellflower that clinched the Trinity League championship. Franklin was 10 for 17 with 21 points in a league victory over Orange Lutheran. He scored a team-high 25 points in a victory over St. Patrick's of New Jersey in the championship game of the City of Palms Classic.

Notable:He has committed to USC.

Tyler Lamb

Mater Dei, Jr., Guard, 6-6

Season highlights: Lamb scored 19 points in the Monarchs' victory over Chino Hills in the CIF Southern California Regionals. He scored 17 points in the victory over St. Benedict's of New Jersey, a matchup of the nation's top two ranked teams, at the Nike Extravaganza. Lamb scored 23 points in a Trinity League victory over Orange Lutheran. Lamb scored 19 points in Mater Dei's loss to Fairfax of Los Angeles in the CIF Southern California Regionals.

Notable:He has committed to UCLA

Chris Manresa

Tesoro, Sr., Forward, 6-8

Season highlights: Manresa was CIF-Southern Section Division I-A player of the year after leading Tesoro to the I-A championship. He scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and six blocked shots, all game highs, in the Titans' 63-57 victory over Ventura in the I-A final. Manresa averaged 17 points a game during the regular season, and pushed that to 23 points a game in the playoffs. He also averaged 14 rebounds and four blocks during the playoffs. Manresa was a South Coast League MVP for the second year in a row.

Notable:He signed with University of San Diego

David Wear

Mater Dei, Sr., Forward, 6-10

Season highlights: Orange County player of the year. Wear scored 17 points with 11 rebounds in the Monarchs' victory over Etiwanda in the CIF-Southern Section Division I-AA semifinals, and made a big play in the final moments - he blocked a shot, held on to the ball and passed it down court to teammate Gary Franklin, who made a victory-clinching 3-pointer. Wear scored a team-high 18 points in the Monarchs' victory over St. Benedict's of New Jersey, a battle of the nation's Nos. 1 and 2 teams at the Nike Extravaganza in February. He had 26 points with 11 rebounds in a Trinity League victory over Orange Lutheran. Wear scored 18 points in the Monarchs' victory over Whitney Young of Chicago in the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

Travis Wear

Mater Dei, Sr., Forward, 6-10

Season highlights: He scored 19 points in the Monarchs' victory over Chino Hills in the CIF Southern California Regionals. In the final game of the regular season, Wear made his first seven shots and scored 17 points in the first quarter, and finished with a career-high 34 points, in a victory over Orange Lutheran. His team-high 23 points led Mater Dei to an 89-61 victory over Whitney Young of Chicago in a Hoophall Classic game in Springfield, Mass. Wear scored 21 points as Mater Dei beat Squalicum of Canada in the Orange Holiday Classic championship game.

Notable:He signed with North Carolina
