Nearly 30 Orange County high school hockey players will represent California this week at the 2015 America’s Showcase, an annual event for scouts from throughout the country to watch some of America’s best players.

The national tournament will be held April 9-13 at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The 28 Orange County players – who all played in the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League – will combine with the top players from the Northern California High School Hockey League to form two California all-star teams: Team Orange and Team Black. Last year, one of the California teams advanced to the final.

“We are eager to get this started and prove California High School Hockey is strong.” said Orange Lutheran head coach Dan Adams, who is also on the Team California staff.

Orange Lutheran, who won both the Ducks league Division 1 title and the California Amateur Hockey Association State Championship, will have four players at the showcase, including Riley Kraemer, who led the Ducks League in goals this season, and Jacob Heller, who was the league’s leading points scorer.

Leading the way in amount of players represented are JSerra and Santa Margarita, who will each have six players competing. The rest of the breakdown includes three players from Ducks League Division 2 champion Villa Park, three from Servite, and two each from Division 2 runner-up Capistrano United, Edison and Newport-Mesa.

The rest of the roster consists of players from Damien (La Verne), La Jolla Country Day, Bellarmine (San Jose), Upland Christian, Corona-Norco and San Diego Union. See below for full list.

Only juniors and seniors with good academic standing were selected to the two California squads.

Among the players selected include Brady Boudreau, son of Anaheim Ducks coach Bruce, and Emil Selanne, son of former Ducks great Teemu.

The coaching staff includes Mike Perkins and Jeff Noviello, who have assisted on the last three Team California squads, Adams, and Ducks league commissioner Matt Blanchart, who will serve as manager.

Both team’s begin play April 9, with Team Orange taking on Illinois at 8 a.m. (PST), and Team Black facing Utah at 2 p.m. (PST).
