CIF-SS GIRLS TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

DIVISION 1

University (19-1) vs.

Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates (22-0)

When, where: Friday, 10:30 a.m., The Claremont Club

Outlook: After losing to the Panthers in the semifinals Wednesday, Corona del Mar coach Brian Ricker said Peninsula is “one of the best teams I’ve seen in the last 10 years.” Peninsula’s singles will be tough to top, led by Ena Shibahara, ranked among the top sophomores in the nation. The Trojans fell, 12-6, to the Panthers in a regular-season match. University’s Celine Gruaz and Yuki Asami each won two sets in singles in the team’s semifinal win against Campbell Hall of Los Angeles, and the Trojans might need a similar effort to have a chance.

DIVISION 2

Canyon (20-0) vs. San Marino (15-2)

When, where: Friday, 11:30 a.m., The Claremont Club

Outlook: The Comanches made it to the final after second-round exits in the postseason the last three years. With a starting lineup of all seniors, Canyon has plenty of leadership. The Titans are the defending Division 2 champions and have made the final four of the last five seasons. San Marino’s only losses this season came to Peninsula and Campbell Hall, two of the top three teams in Division 1. The Titans knocked out Troy, 10-8, in the quarterfinals.
