OCVarsity takes a close look at the top teams in the CIF-SS Division 6 playoff bracket.

DIVISION 6

2015 champion: Paraclete

Top four seeded teams: 1. Paraclete (23-0); 2. Savanna (26-2-1); 3. St. Anthony (17-5); 4. Calvary Chapel/Downey (19-2)

O.C. teams: Anaheim (14-9); Katella (14-11); Saddleback Valley Christian (6-4); Savanna (26-2-1)

Analysis: All signs point to a Savanna-Paraclete rematch in the final, and it would be borderline shocking if that matchup didn’t come to fruition.

Rebels coach Mike Willey has the exact same roster in place as he did a season ago, and you can bet every single member of that team remembers the 9-2 loss to the Spirits in the championship.

Muck like Garden Grove did in Division 5, Savanna played a winter ball and preseason slate that was put together with the sole purpose of preparing for Paraclete, which enters the postseason on a 46-game winning streak.

Senior shortstop Kristin Worley has put up some gaudy numbers this season, leading Orange County in batting average (.756), hits (68), runs (60) and stolen bases (57). With six players batting .430 or better, Savanna notched huge wins over the likes of Santa Margarita and California – a Carew Classic semifinalist – this season.

They hope they can add Paraclete to that list in two-and-a-half weeks time.
