Playoff dates: First round (Feb. 18), second round (Feb. 20), quarterfinals (Feb. 24), semifinals (Feb. 27), final (March 4 or 5).
CONNOLLY’S COMMENTS: One of the better stories of the season has been the rise of Oxford Academy, who – along with Brea Olinda – take a county-best 17-game win streak into the postseason. Freshman center Austyn Masuno is a walking double-double, averaging around 19 points and 12 rebounds a game. Oxford has played teams out of the Sea View, Pacific Coast and North Hills Leagues, so it will be more than prepared for any opponent it encounters in 5AA. . . . We’ve seen programs like Fairmont Prep and Orangewood Academy make the leap from small school powers to county powerhouses in the past few season. Do the Patriots follow in those footsteps? . . . The entire roster is in tact for another couple seasons, but to climb the ranks, you have to win CIF titles. It starts here for Oxford.
