OCVarsity’s season preview for 2016:
ORANGE PANTHERS
Coach: Robert Pedroza
Last season: 4-6 overall, 1-4 league
Scouting report: The Panthers have been preaching a “grind time” approach in training camp, insisting that outworking other teams in practice will translate to game day. That is exactly what opponents should expect when they face Orange. The Panthers possess the biggest offensive line in the league. Orange starts four seniors on the offensive line, including Noah Tiliaia-Faletoi (6-0, 270), Julian Morariu (6-2, 240) and Cody Remigio (6-0, 280). Brandon Warren is receiving recruiting interest as a cornerback who can run a 4.59-second 40-yard dash.
Bottom line: The Panthers will be using a running-back-by-committee scheme, but they should still be expected to keep the ball on the ground as they try to creep into the postseason picture.
Players to watch: Nathan Howard, RB/SS, Sr.; Julian Morariu, OG/DE, Sr.; Noah Tiliaia-Faletoi, OT/DE, Sr.; Jake Tuua-Burch, TE, Sr.; Brandon Warren, RB/CB, Sr.
