The California State High School Water Polo Championships, one of the top tournaments of the summer for boys and girls, start Friday in Orange County and run through Sunday.

The top-four seeded teams for the boys are defending Division 1 champion Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran, Harvard-Westlake and Loyola. Huntington Beach, Foothill, Sacred Heart Prep and Davis are the next-four seeded teams in the field of 48 squads.

The boys games will be played at Foothill, Newport Harbor, Santa Margarita, Beckman, Capo Valley and Yorba Linda. The championship is scheduled for Sunday at Foothill at 3 p.m.

The top-four seeded girls teams are Laguna Beach, defending Division 1 champion Orange Lutheran, Mater Dei and San Marcos, The next group consists of San Ramon Valley, Corona del Mar, Santa Barbara and Huntington Beach.

The girls tournament also features 48 teams.

The girls matches will be played at Corona del Mar, El Toro, Santa Ana Valley, Huntington Beach, El Dorado and Villa Park. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at Corona del Mar at 3 p.m.
