ANAHEIM – Pounding the ball up and down the field, Orange rushed for 315 total yards and won its first game, defeating Savanna, 28-14, in a nonleague contest Friday night at Glover Field.

Orange (1-3) used the ground attack of junior running back Ty Cole and quarterback Brandon Warren.

Cole rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, and Warren rushed for 102 yards on five carries. The sophomore quarterback completed 9 of 14 passes for 100 yards.

Savanna (1-2) scored with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter on a Leroy Hibbert 2-yard touchdown run, cutting Orange’s lead to 28-14.

Before that score, Orange’s Jesus Schettino had a 19-yard touchdown run.

Savanna scored its first touchdown late in the first quarter tying the game at 7 when quarterback Hibbert hooked up with senior wide receiver Nathan Goodman on a 19-yard pass.

The Orange defense held Savanna to 98 yards rushing and 139 yards passing.

Hibbert completed 7 of 20 passes with one touchdown and one interception.
