Collin See scored three goals and Jake Simmons made 12 saves to help Orange Lutheran’s unranked boys water polo team upset Murrieta Valley, 10-9, in a first-round match at the Santa Barbara Invitational on Thursday night.
Murrieta Valley was seeded third in the teams’ group while the Lancers were sixth. Murriieta Valley also was ranked second in Division 3 preseason poll to Laguna Beach.
Orange Lutheran plays Miramonte — the No. 2 seed in the group — at 1 p.m. Friday at Santa Barbara.
The group also includes defending tournament champion and Orange County No. 1-ranked Mater Dei, which opens against Division 4 contender Righetti at noon at Santa Barbara.
If Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei both win, the Trinity League teams will play in the quarterfinals Friday at 5 p.m.
