OCVarsity preview for the 2015 season:

LOS AMIGOS LOBOS

Coach: Carl Agnew

Last season: 7-5 overall, 4-1 league

Scouting report: Jose Olvera will be looked to carried the load on the ground. As a sophomore, Olvera rushed for 1,367 yards with 16 touchdowns. He has to replace Moby Contreras who put up big numbers (2,391 yards, 25 touchdowns) in 2014. Alexis Coronado returns on the offensive line. The line is considered a strength for this year’s team. Coronado earned first-team All-Garden Grove League honors last season. The depth throughout the team is a concern, but if Olvera duplicates the success he had as a sophomore, the Lobos should return to the playoffs. Robert Cortez (49 tackles) is player to watch on defense.

Bottom line: The Lobos are set at some of the key positions, and with the return of Olvera they could be in line for another trip to the playoffs.

Players to watch: Jose Olvera, RB/SS, Sr.; Alexis Coronado, OG, Sr.; Jorge Najera, QB/MLB, Sr.; Robert Cortez, MLB, Sr.
