Hoffman advanced from the first round in a walkover before defeating Andrew Leahy of Claremont, 6-3, 6-2, in the second round.

Beckman’s Axel Stern and Joshua Yoo, Woodbridge’s Paul Diamantopoulos and Leo Hibi, Corona del Mar brothers Pedro and Diego Fernandez del Valle and University’s John Joens and Tommy Wang each won two matches to earn berths in the Round of 16 for the CIF boys doubles draw.

Stern-Yoo eliminated Newport Harbor’s David Lee and Mark Schaefer, 6-1, 6-1, in the second round.

Stern and Yoo face Palm Desert’s Bradley Cummins and Alex Kuperstein – The Ojai’s defending CIF doubles champions – in the third round Friday at 9:30 a.m.

The Corona del Mar brothers won both matches by a 6-1, 6-2 count.

Joens-Wang scored a second-round 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 win over Granada Hills’ Brian Bonilla and Sebastian Prokic.
