Pregame Madness: We salute Tesoro's 'Titan Army'

OCVARSITY.COM

OCVarsity spends a lot of time each week shining the spotlight on the football players, coaches and teams in Orange County.

But don't think we've forgotten about the other stars of the game -- the fans, bands, cheerleaders and spirit crews.

We know some of the best action (and most fun) happens off the field, and that’s why each week we highlight it in our “Fandemonium” slideshows.

We’re also looking each week for the best student sections in the county. We’re looking for groups that are loud, creative, enthusiastic and fun to write about in Pregame Madness.

Last week, the student section that stood out was Tesoro’s 'Titan Army,' which we named the OCVarsity All-County Student Section of the Week.

Here is what our reporter Kenny Connolly, who was at last week’s Tesoro-Edison game, had to say about the Titan Army:

“Not only was Week 0 an impressive debut for Tesoro’s fifth-ranked football team, it was also a spirited outing for the school’s student section: the Titan Army.

The section’s “Red Out”, by all accounts, was a glowing success, and the energy the group produced only grew with every sack or Devon Modster touchdown. It was just the first step on Tesoro's long journey, but there was plenty to celebrate in a 35-16 win over highly regarded Edison last Friday evening.

Modster and company will need all the reinforcements they can get this week as the Titans travel to Santa Ana Stadium to take on the county’s top-ranked team, Mater Dei, in the week’s marquee matchup.

Can the Titan Army even the playing field in a hostile road environment later tonight? We'll find out soon enough.”

Do you think your school should be the OCVarsity All-County Student Section of the Week? Send tweets and pics to us (@ocvarsity and use the hash tag #ocvupdates) that show your group getting ready for the big game or at the big game. (Be creative. We always love those big cutouts of Steve Fryer's head.)

If we select your school, we’ll write about it in next week’s Pregame Madness and include a photo.

Does it get any better than that?

Enjoy the Pregame Madness until kickoff ...
