Northwood standout freshman swimmer Hunter Hitchens has not raced in recent weeks because of a CIF issue, Timberwolves coach Alex Nieto said Wednesday night.
Nieto said Hitchens is “going through CIF eligibility issues” and not racing to protect himself and third-ranked Northwood. Hitchens last raced April 1 against Irvine in a Pacific Coast League victory.
Nieto said Northwood has not forfeited any dual-meet victories.
Hitchens, a club swimmer with the Irvine Novaquatics, owns the sixth-ranked time for 14-year-olds in the nation this year with a 46.26 in the 100-yard free in April. He is seventh in the 200 free with 1:41.09.
