1. Mater Dei (15-2, 50 poll points)

Monarchs opened Trinity League play with wins over two top-10 teams, Orange Lutheran and Servite.

2. Santa Margarita (10-5, 43)

In an 88-71 Trinity League win over JSerra, five Eagles scored in double figures led by Adrease Jackson’s 22 points.

3. Los Alamitos (14-3, 41)

Eyassu Worku’s 31 points paced Griffins to 61-51 win over Edison, probably their top competition in the Sunset League.

4. Orange Lutheran (13-3, 36)

Lancers trailed made a late run at Mater Dei in Trinity league opener, cutting deficit to five in final minute before losing by 10 points.

5. Villa Park (12-4, 30)

With Evan Battey and the Franklin brothers, Myles and Julien, leading the charge, the Spartans defeated Cypress and Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach in nonleague games.

6. Servite (12-5, 18)

A 26-point loss to Mater Dei did not freak out voters – Friars moved up from last week’s No. 8 ranking.

7. JSerra (13-3, 16)

Lions beat Orangewood Academy in a nonleague game, lost to Santa Margarita in a Trinity League opener.

8. Crean Lutheran (11-3, 11)

Saints return to top 10 after beating Foothill, 61-57; they made 9 of 11 free throws down the stretch.

9. Foothill (12-4, 10)

Knights beat Tustin in one nonleague game, lost to Crean Lutheran in another and they still have another week of nonleague games this week.

10. Yorba Linda (12-5, 9)

Mustangs ended three-game losing streak with nonleague wins over Valencia and Rialto.

Also receiving votes: Edison (13-4, 8); Capistrano Valley Christian (14-4, 1); Corona del Mar (13-4, 1)
