Orange County had 11 boys and two girls nominated for this year’s McDonald’s All-American basketball games.

The contest, which will be played April 1 at the United Center in Chicago, is an annual showcase for the top high school seniors in the nation.

The county boys nominated are: Nick Anderson (Canyon), C.J. Hankins (Orange Lutheran), Kevin Olsen (Villa Park), La’Vette Parker (Mater Dei), Eric Patton (Foothill), Rex Pflueger (Mater Dei), Rogers Printup (Orange Lutheran), Ben Rico (Sonora), Josh Rodriguez (Sonora), Eric Rwahwire (Saddleback Valley Christian) and Brandon Smith (Godinez).

The county girls nominated are Andee Velasco (Mater Dei) and Katie Lou Samuelson (Mater Dei).

The final team of 24 boys and 24 girls will be selected Jan. 28.

Nationally, 823 players from 47 states and the District of Columbia were nominated for the 2015 McDonald’s All American Games. California topped the list of states with the most nominated players with 99, followed by Florida (67), Texas (63) and Georgia (36).
