He scored 27 points with four 3-pointers in a 71-66 victory over Santiago, and scored 30 points with four more 3-pointers in a 74-63 victory over Los Amigos. Nguyen, a 5-foot-8 senior guard, is averaging 17 points a game for the Vaqueros, who won the Garden Grove League championship with a 10-0 league record and are 20-4 overall. They play a CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA first-round home game Wednesday against El Modena.
