Muhammad leads Cypress with 5 TDs
The Centurions storm past Katella, 65-11.
ANAHEIM - Akeelie Muhammad scored five touchdowns, four rushing and the other on a kickoff return, to lead visiting Cypress in a 65-11 Empire League victory over Katella on Thursday night at Glover Stadium.
Muhammad scored on runs of 12, 8, 25 and 56 yards. His 56-yard run came on the first play of the second half. He finished the game with 140 rushing yards for the Centurions (7-1, 3-0).
Muhammad has scored 26 touchdowns this season.
“He’s a very special football player,” Cypress coach Ray Fenton said. “It is a pleasure to watch. I’m glad he’s on our side.
“He’s special and as coaches, you have to appreciate having a kid like that on your team.”
Katella led, 3-0, in the first quarter, but Cypress took control with 21 consecutive points to end the first quarter.
Katella fell to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league.
The Knights’ lone touchdown came on a 15-yard screen pass from Keith Bambrick to Frank Medina.
