WEST COVINA – Devon Modster’s precision Friday night helped Tesoro cruise to a 35-0 nonleague victory at West Covina.

Modster was 17 of 22 for 343 yards, and threw touchdowns to four different receivers.

The Titans senior started 15 of 17 for 277 yards, and of his five incompletions, two were drops.

Carter Jaenichen 10-yard TD reception on Tesoro’s first drive had the Titans up early. Tylon Freeman’s 21-yard score from Modster later in the quarter all but sealed the victory.

“Devon is the leader, obviously, and he sets the tone for us,” Tesoro coach Matt Poston said. “Our offensive line did a good job, but I’d like to see us more focused and intense.”

Anthony Battista led the Titans (3-1) with 55 yards rushing on 10 carries, including an 8-yard TD run to give Tesoro a 21-0 halftime lead.

Modster’s first pass of the second half went for a 41-yard TD to GJ Harrick and his last pass of the third quarter was a 40-yard score to Braden King.

Chris Evagues led the Titans’ defense with four sacks.

Harrick caught four passes for 152 yards.

“My line did a great job of giving me time, I have a great set of receivers and the running backs can catch the ball too,” Modster said. “I take pride in putting the ball in a position only our receiver can make a play and that worked well tonight.”

West Covina’s Prentis Busby and Kevin Thomas had 75 yards apiece on the ground.

Tesoro (3-1) will face Corona del Mar next Thursday at Estancia.
