Outlook: El Modena opened the playoffs with a 35-10 victory over Rancho Alamitos. The Vanguards did a great job containing the Vaqueros’ passing attack, allowing just 153 passing yards, and they had three interceptions. The Vanguards’ Christian Lopez and Clint Wodark each returned an interception for a touchdown. Segerstrom’s success comes from its ground game. In last week’s 35-20 victory over Saddleback, Segerstrom rushed for 278 yards and five touchdowns. Gabriel Lopez rushed for 141 yards. The Jaguars might need to do more passing this week to keep the Vanguards defense off-balance. If the Jaguars can get their ground game on track, look for this to be a low-scoring game.
