Boys scholar-athlete of the week: Tyler Meisinger, San Clemente
Meisinger begins the season ranked 15th in the state at 152 pounds. He opened the season winning two matches by fall, one by decision and another by major decision on his way to the 152-pound title at the El Dorado Invitational. He’s enrolled in AP Statistics, IB Literature, American Government, Marine Ecology and Digital Photography. Wrestling consumes much of his time, but he has had opportunities to help with the San Clemente youth team. He’s received the hardest worker award, middle weight MVP award and rookie of the year while wrestling for the Tritons. He’s been on the Principal’s Honor roll for two years (freshman and sophmore) and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll last year. He credits his parents for helping him develop as a wrestler and a student. His goal is wrestle at the Division I level and a pursue a degree in Entrepreneurship.
