Tia Meza will assume the athletic director position at Mater Dei on July 1, the school announced Tuesday night.

She replaces Phil Bellomo, who will become the school’s Director of Facility and Venue Management. Bellomo already had been deeply involved in facility and venue management as athletic director.

Meza has been Mater Dei’s softball head coach and its Director of Admissions, Marketing and Media Relations since 2012. She also is one of the more-decorated athletes in Mater Dei history. An outstanding pitcher, Tia Bollinger (Meza is her married name) was Gatorade’s national softball player of the year in 2000.

She was a two-time All-American at Washington.

Meza was softball coach and associate athletic director at JSerra from 2008-10. She has been an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount.
