St. Margaret’s announced the hiring of Joaquin Acosta as the new girls volleyball coach.

Acosta, played at BYU where he earned All-American honors and a national championship. Acosta also had an played internationally both indoor and on the beach.

“Coach Acosta has a proven track record of success at every possible level of the sport. From coaching youth programs, to his time on the Puerto Rican National Team, Coach Acosta has amassed a level of experience not often found at the high school level,” St. Margaret’s Director of Athletics Patrick Bendzick said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber join our staff and look forward to having him share his tremendous knowledge of the game with our student-athletes.”

The Tartans finished last season as runners-up in the CIF-SS Division 3AA playoffs.
