How they got here: Corona del Mar, the top seed, defeated Servite, 13-10; Huntington Beach, 10-6; Foothill, 7-5; San Clemente, 9-6. Palos Verdes, the North champion, defeated Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates, 20-4; Malibu, 23-4; Loyola of Los Angeles, 14-1; Palisades, 13-4.
Outlook: Corona del Mar has the better record, but this one figures to be close between two powerhouses. Corona del Mar would like to cap a perfect season with a victory and add to its title run after winning the county championship. Corona del Mar, coached by G.W. Mix, has a talented group led by Michael Keasey, who has 51 goals and 32 assists, Casey Mix (42 goals, 36 assists), Jack Ortlieb (55 goals, 24 assists) and Hunter Molnar (50 goals, 11 assists). Goalkeeper Michael Ortlieb has 170 saves for the season, and had nine saves in Wednesday’s game.
