He hit a game-winning home run Tuesday in a 5-4 victory over Orange in a Golden West League game, then pitched a complete game in a 2-1 league victory over Orange on Thursday. Mahle, a senior pitcher/first baseman with a 3.9 grade-point average, is batting .447 and is 5-2 on the mound with a 0.70 ERA for the Golden West League champion Lions.
