1. Mater Dei 4-0 (250 poll points)

It is shaping up to be a special year for the Monarchs, whose average margin of victory is 54 points.

2. Mission Viejo 4-0 (240)

Talk about a team that knows how to finish – Diablos scored 28 straight points in the second half to beat Long Beach Poly, 42-14.

3. Santa Margarita 3-1 (223)

The Eagles have won three in a row since season-opening loss to Mission Viejo.

4. Servite 2-2 (213)

The Friars had no letdown after tough loss to De La Salle, beat Villa Park more than 41-32 score indicated.

5. Orange Lutheran 2-2 (204)

The Lancers again bounced back from a loss by beating Norco, 35-21.

6. JSerra 3-1 (202)

The Lions defeated Vista Murrieta, ranked No. 7 in California last week; also beat Sacramento, which just beat state No. 8 Folsom.

7. Edison 4-0 (187)

Chargers coach Dave White says team is its own worst enemy, but they still beat a good San Juan Hills team, 24-17.

8. Tesoro 3-1 (169)

The Titans beat El Toro, 25-21, to make it three in a row since season-opening loss to Edison.

9. San Clemente 2-2 (159)

Loss to La Mirada a lot more one-sided, 43-14, than could have been expected.

10. Villa Park 2-1 (156)

The Spartans led by three points in first half, but could not keep up with Servite in 41-32 loss.

11. Los Alamitos 3-1 (145)

Win over La Habra, 40-29, makes it three in a row since season-opening loss to Long Beach Poly.

12. Corona del Mar 3-1 (139)

The Sea Kings beat Newport Harbor for fourth “Battle of the Bay” win in a row for first time since the 1980s.

13. Buena Park 4-0 (128)

It’s a little difficult to get impressed by Coyotes, knowing teams they’ve defeated are a combined 2-11-1.

14. San Juan Hills 3-1 (118)

The Stallions battled but succumbed to Edison, 24-17.

15. La Habra 1-3 (117)

Don’t worry about Highlanders’ record, as teams they have lost to are a cumulative 10-2.

16. Capistrano Valley 3-1 (95)

The Cougars clobbered Esperanza, 52-6; their loss was the San Juan Hills.

17. Foothill 2-1 (78)

The Knights cruised to 30-6 win over Fountain Valley; good matchup with Brea Olinda this week.

18. Newport Harbor 2-1 (73)

The Sailors had their boat rocked by Sea Kings in 41-13 “Battle of the Bay” loss.

19. Tustin 3-1 (59)

K.C. Carr, with 197 yards and three TDs, drove Tillers to tough 28-21 win over Trabuco Hills.

20. Brea Olinda 3-0 (52)

Wildcats beat Diamond Bar by 20 points; their average margin of victory is 19 points over teams that are a cumulative 2-10.

21. Yorba Linda 3-0 (49)

The Mustangs have allowed only nine points a game, but have faced teams that are a combined 2-9.

22. El Toro 0-4 (40)

The Chargers made Tesoro work for its 25-21 win.

23. El Modena 3-0 (28)

With 26-21 win over Fullerton, the Vanguards have won six of their last seven.

24. Cypress 3-0 (26)

After bye last week, Centurions play host to 1-3 El Rancho on Saturday.

25. Huntington Beach 2-2 (15)

The Oilers pop into top 25 after 29-18 victory over over previously undefeated Long Beach Wilson.

Also receiving votes: St. Margaret’s (3-0, 9); Troy (2-1, 6); Fullerton (2-1, 5); University (3-0, 5); Laguna Hills (2-1, 1).
