JSerra’s Royce Lewis committed this week to UC Irvine, Lions coach Brett Kay confirmed Thursday.
The third baseman, who is going into his junior year, led the Lions in hitting this past spring. He was the Trinity League MVP and a major contributor to JSerra’s run to the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
He batted .389 with a school-record 44 hits (17 extra-base hits) with 21 RBI and 21 stolen bases.
Lewis was a first-team selection for All-County and All-CIF, and he was MaxPreps All-State first team.
He was being recuited by schools in the Pac-12, ACC, SEC and Big 12, according to Kay.
