Troy seizes the lead in Freeway race
Green scores six goals in a 12-9 victory over Buena Park.
Riley Green scored six goals and goalie Clark Barry made 16 saves to help Troy's boys water polo team take sole possession of first place in the Freeway League with a 12-9 victory at Buena Park on Tuesday.
Keegan Condon added seven assists for Troy (16-3, 3-0). Josh Stedman, Orange County's leading scorer, had seven steals.
Shane LaFortune had three goals for Buena Park (8-9, 2-1 in league).
In the Empire League:
Valencia 10, Katella 8: Dillon Avila had five goals in the loss for the host Knights. Both teams are 2-1 in the league, one game behind Kennedy.
In the Orange League:
Western 15, Santa Ana Valley 9: Sebastian Lucar scored five goals and Sean Wright added four as the host Pioneers (9-8, 3-0) took sole possession of first place.
In nonleague:
No. 5 Newport Harbor 6, Northwood 5: Timberwolves goalie James Hartshorne made 17 saves but the visiting Sailors (11-5) escaped with the victory. Nick Holbrook had 12 saves for Newport Harbor.
