1. Mater Dei (20-3 record, 50 poll points)
Monarchs have a tough week ahead – at Santa Margarita on Wednesday, Nike Extravaganza games Friday and Saturday.
2. Los Alamitos (19-3, 43)
Eyassu Worku is great and he is consistent, scoring 31 points against Edison as he did in previous game vs. Edison.
3. Orange Lutheran (19-4, 41)
Lancers went 9-2 in January, with losses to state-ranked Mater Dei and De La Salle of Concord.
4. Santa Margarita (15-5, 36)
Eagles played poorly and lost by a little at Mater Dei, are likely to play better against Monarchs in home game Wednesday.
5. Esperanza (17-6, 27)
Aztecs, No. 9 last week, beat two top 10 teams last week, Foothill and Yorba Linda.
6. Crean Lutheran (17-4, 23)
Academy League-leading Saints went 9-0 in January, including nonleague win over Foothill.
7. Foothill (16-6, 16)
Knights have lost three of past seven games, have crucial league games against Villa Park and Canyon this week.
8. Yorba Linda (17-6, 14)
North Hills League-leading Mustangs went 7-1 in January.
9. Edison (18-5, 13)
Chargers lost by two points to Sunset League-leader Los Alamitos, defeated Newport Harbor.
10. Northwood (18-5, 4)
Pacific Coast League wins over Corona del Mar and Irvine get Timberwolves back into the top 10.
