Mater Dei forward Michael Wang scores with a reverse lay-in against Santa Margarita on Friday. The Mopnarchs remain the top-ranked team in Orange County this week.

A poll of Orange County media members.

O.C. TOP 10

(records through Sunday)

1. Mater Dei (17-2, 50 poll points)

Monarchs moved to 4-0 in the Trinity League with wins over JSerra and Santa Margarita.

2T. Los Alamitos (16-3, 42)

With Pepe Garcia scoring 15 points a game, Griffins opponents can’t focus only on controlling Eyassu Worku.

2T. Santa Margarita (11-6, 42)

Eagles shot poorly but still hung in there with Mater Dei until the very end; maybe they’ll get a different result in a Feb. 3 rematch.

4. Orange Lutheran (15-3, 36)

Shooting 54 percent in an opposing team’s gym, as the Lancers did at Servite, was impressive.

5. Villa Park (14-4, 30)

Spartans, with Evan Battey and Myles and Julien Franklin leading the charge, might be the team to beat in the very good Crestview League.

6. Crean Lutheran (13-4, 17)

Saints, ranked No. 8 last week, have a challenging game Friday against Saddleback Valley Christian.

7. Yorba Linda (14-5, 16)

Mustangs, clearly the superior team in the North Hills League, likely to run the table in league games.

8. Foothill (13-5, 12)

Considering how many good players they lost to graduation, and Matt Avila’s season-ending knee injury, Knights remain a strong team.

9. Servite (12-7, 10)

Friars appear a bit disjointed at times, need to play more unified to get some wins in the challenging Trinity League.

10. Edison (15-4, 9)

Chargers probably can’t wait until rematch with Los Alamitos in their gym on Jan. 29.

Also receiving votes: JSerra (13-5, 8); Capistrano Valley Christian (15-4, 4).
