OCVarsity preview for the 2015 season:
CORONA DEL MAR SEA KINGS
Coach: Dan O’Shea
Last season: 10-2 overall, 5-0 league
Scouting report: The Sea Kings will be under new leadership this season with defensive coordinator Dan O’Shea taking over for Scott Meyer who left to coach Servite. O’Shea has a good foundation on offense with the return of starting quarterback and the 2014 league offensive MVP, Chase Garbers. The junior will be surrounded by a wealth of talent at the skill positions, led by senior Peter Bush and Dylan Tucker. CdM has to replace all 11 starters on its defense. However, there are several newcomers ready to lead the charge, including linebackers Karl Donovan and Jaydin Moses.
Bottom line: CdM’s offense is in good hands, but the defense will have to mature quickly for the Sea Kings to win their fourth consecutive league title.
Players to watch: Teddy Barber, DT, Jr.; Peter Bush, WR, Sr.; Karl Donovan, MLB, Sr.; Chase Garbers, QB, Jr.; Blake Kormos, OLB, Sr.
