Orange Coast League 2014 MVP Dylan Laurent has withdrawn from Estancia with the intent of transferring to Los Alamitos, Estancia coach Mike Bargas confirmed today.

Laurent was league MVP last season as a sophomore. Listed as 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds on Estancia’s 2014 roster, Laurent played cornerback, running back and receiver and also returned kicks. Bargas said it was at cornerback where Laurent was at his best.

Bargas said Laurent’s withdrawl slip included information that Laurent would transfer to Los Alamitos.

Laurent’s older brother Christian was all-league first team for Estancia football as a senior this past fall.

Bargas was disappointed but not angry about Laurent’s decision.

“We wish Dylan the best,” Bargas said.

Estancia won the Orange Coast League championship in ’14, the Eagles third consecutive season going undefeated in league play. Among their other standouts was quarterback Connor Brown, who was league offensive player of the year as a junior. Estancia finished 8-3 overall.

Los Alamitos was Sunset League champion in ’14. The Griffins finished 9-2 overall.
