Beckman 98, Irvine 72: Kane Kaneshiro (48.65), Aidan Tol (49.26) and Justin Le (49.67) swept the top three places in the 100-yard freestyle to help lead the host Patriots, who improved to 1-2 in league.
In girls swimming Wednesday:

No. 2 Foothill 104, Esperanza 66: Freshman Carley Vaccher blazed in the 50 (24.23) and 100 (53.39) freestyles for the host Aztecs but the defending champion Knights improved to 3-0 in league. Foothill’s Courtney Mykkanen broke 1 minute in the butterfly (59.68) and also claimed the backstroke (57.67). Foothill’s Rachel Thompson outdueled Esperanza’s Meghan Merlihan by about one second in the 200 free with 1:54.63 but Merlihan earned the victory by a tenth of a second in the 500 free with a 5:05.11.
