Earlier this season, the Woodbridge girls volleyball team swept Tesoro in a nonleague match.

The teams will meet again today, but this time a spot in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1AA playoffs will be at stake.

Both teams were at-large berths from their respective leagues — Woodbridge in the Pacific Coast, Tesoro in the South Coast. They meet at 4p.m. at University High.

Woodbridge lost three of its four matches to end the regular season. Tesoro ended on a three-match losing streak.

The main draw for the CIF-SS playoffs will be released today, starting at noon.

Among other wild-card matches today, in Division 1A, Godinez (Orange Coast League) will be at El Toro at 11a.m. The Chargers are an at-large selection from the Sea View League.

In Division 2A, Tustin, the fourth-place team from the Empire League, hosts Heritage of Romoland at 5 p.m. The Patriots finished third in the Sunbelt League.

In a game Monday, Canyon, which finished fifth in the Century League, will host Simi Valley in a Division 1A contest at 6 p.m. The Comanches went 6-6 in the Century League, three games behind league co-champions Villa Park and El Dorado.

The first-round matches are Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m. The second round is Thursday, quarterfinals are Saturday, semifinals are Nov. 19 and the finals are Nov. 22 and 23.
