Villa Park’s Garrett Corcoran took down another course record Wednesday en route to successfully defending his title at the Century League Finals at Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim.

Corcoran crossed the finish in a time of 14:00, breaking the previous course record of 14:29 that he tied last year and that was originally set by former Orange runner Jaime Martinez in 1993.

In his last two races prior to Wednesday’s effort, Corcoran set the meet record at the Orange County Championships and ran the fastest time ever for a county runner at Mt. Sac.

Brea Olinda’s Austin Tamagno was second in a time of 14:09, with El Modena’s Sydney Gidabuday finishing third with a time of 14:24.

Tamagno led another strong team performance for top-ranked Brea Olinda.

The Wildcats, also ranked No. 1 in CIF-SS Division 3, had five scoring runners finish in the top 9 and claimed their fifth straight league title.

No. 4 Canyon, also ranked No. 4 in CIF-SS Division 2, had four runners place in the top 15 and finished second with 58 points.

El Modena, ranked No. 5 in the county and No. 6 in CIF-SS Division 3, took home the final automatic playoff berth by coming in third with 71 points.

The girls’ team title went to No. 9 Esperanza. The Aztecs, ranked No. 4 in CIF-SS Division 3, had three runners in finish in the top 10 to slip past Foothill 50-54.

It’s the first team title for the Aztecs girls’ team since 2009, their final season in the Sunset League.

Canyon (71), El Dorado (94), and Brea Olinda (104) will also advance to the CIF-SS preliminaries.

El Dorado’s Cassidy Towner continued to build her resume as one of the county’s top individuals heading into CIF, as she won the individual title in a time of 17:00.

Foothill’s Jessica Cushing-Murray was second in a time of 17:30, with Canyon’s Julia VanMarter (18:03) placing third.
