With its 201-211 victory against El Toro last week, Tesoro clinched its second consecutive South Coast League boys golf championship. The Titans won all eight of their league matches this year and ended eth season 17-1. San Juan Hills was the only team that beat them this year, posting a seven-stroke victory at Marbella Country Club in the second match of the season. Dating to the spring of 2011, the Titans are now 31-3.

Four Titans have a nine-hole scoring average that’s under 40. Freshman Gordon Neale leads the team at 37.368. Jack Ireland (39.476), Robert Beard (35.500) and Austin Stinson (39.550) are the other three. In April, Neale finished tied for fourth in one of the most prestigious tournament on the AJGA schedule.

During the final round at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., he posted a course-record 8-under 63 and finished the 36-hole event with a 7-under 206. Neale, who is Leader in points in the South Coast League going into league championship tournament this week, had seven birdies and one eagle during his record-setting round in Ariz.
