All-Star game: Meet the South team
Slideshow: The South roster has been selected for the Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game on July 6 at Orange Coast College. Check out the slideshow to meet the players that have been picked to play for the South team.
Kyle Paris of Aliso Niguel played receiver and defensive back, and was All-Sea View League first team. He had 29 receptions and averaged 10 yards a catch, and made All-CIF Southwest Division as a defensive back.
Beckman's Bryan Dewey was most valuable player in the Pacific Coast League and made the All-CIF Southern Section Southern Division team.
Calvin Steyn of Capistrano Valley was an All-Sea View League first-team selection. He played on the offensive line for the Cougars.
Receiver Josh Giger caught 53 passes for 922 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Southern Division champion Sea Kings. He was named All-Pacific Coast League and All-CIF Southern Division.
Edison quarterback Chase Favreau was named Sunset League most valuable player and made the All-CIF Pac-5 Division team. He threw for 1,882 yards and 16 touchdowns, and signed with San Diego State.
Edison defensive lineman Dehvon Brown was a Sunset League defensive lineman of the year last season. He had 3.5 sacks.
Alex Kircher was Sunset League offensive lineman of the year last season at Edison. Kircher also made All-Orange County third team.
El Toro linebacker Brian Moreen averaged 12 tackles a game for the Chargers, and had 3.5 sacks. He was a Sea View League defensive co-most valuable player and All-County second team.
Avery Bean starred at nose tackle for the Chargers. He made All-Sea View League first team for the Southwest Division finalist, and All-CIF Southwest Division.
Alipa Peters played on the defensive line for Estancia, the Orange Coast League champion. He was named a league defensive player of the year.
Jake Dupre played defensive back, receiver and quarterback for the Knights. He was the Century League's offensive player of the year, and made All-CIF Southwest Division as a defensive back.
Fountain Valley receiver/defensive back Sean Myers was All-Sunset League first team. He had 36 receptions for 445 yards and four touchdowns.
Huntington Beach offensive lineman Jack Rulon was named All-Sunset League first team for the Oilers, who finished second in the league.
Richie Caceres was a standout at receiver and cornerback for Irvine. He was named Pacific Coast League first team.
JSerra's Jonavaughn Williams started at receiver and defensive back. He was named All-Trinity League second team, and signed with UNLV.
Miles Gastril played tight end and linebacker for Laguna Hills. He made All-Sea View League first team as a linebacker.
Connor Landberg was an All-Sea View League receiver for Laguna Hills, and had 41 receptions for 735 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also played defensive back.
Mater Dei's Rick Ortiz was a two-year starter at linebacker. He was named to the All-Trinity League first team.
Nick O'Toole handled kicking and punting duties for Mater Dei. He was selected to the All-Trinity League first team as a punter.
Mission Viejo defensive back Anthony Pierce was named All-County first team and was a South Coast League defensive player of the year. He signed with Hawaii.
Ryan Harris of Mission Viejo was an All-County first-team linebacker and a South Coast League defensive player of the year. He signed with Navy.
Mission Viejo running back Buzzy Yokoyama rushed for 700 yards and 12 touchdowns in an injury-shortened season. He was named South Coast League first team.
Newport Harbor's Titus Hasson was a very good running back, but really stood out on defense. He was Sunset League defensive back of the year.
Newport Harbor defensive end Steve Michaelson was a Sunset Legue defensive lineman of the year. He had six sacks, and this spring is one of the top shot put and discus throwers in California track and field.
Northwood quarterback Ricky Bautista passed for 2,835 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was named All-Pacific Coast League first team.
Tight end Alex King caught 51 passes for Northwood, for 768 yards and seven touchdowns. Also a linebacker, King made All-Pacific Coast League first team.
Ocean View's Timmy Robinson is one of the county's better athletes, a standout football and baseball player. He played quarterback and linebacker for the Seahawks, was named Golden West League most valuable player and was selected to the All-CIF Southern Division team.
San Clemente's Christian Tober was All-County first team as a defensive back. He also made big contribution as a receiver and kick returner.
Connor O'Brien played on the offensive line for San Clemente. He was selected to the All-South Coast League second team.
Santa Margarita defensive lineman Mack Pierson made All-Trinity League first team for the state-champion Eagles. He had 106 tackles and 11 sacks.
Cole Luther was an important member of Santa Margarita's outstanding offensive line. He was named to the All-Trinity League second team.
Tustin defensive back Michael Lilly was named All-Empire League first team for the Southwest Division champion Tillers. He also made the All-CIF Southwest Division team.
Lomitusi Sasi was a two-way lineman on the Tustin CIF championship team. He made the All-Empire League first team and All-County second team as an offensive lineman.
Lopeti Tuipulotu played offensive and defense line for the CIF champion Tustin Tillers. Tuipulotu was All-Empire League first team and All-CIF Southwest Division.
Tyler Stanek of University was an All-Pacific Coast League receiver. He has 51 receptions for 662 yards and seven touchdowns.
Derek Calderon of Woodbridge rushed for 1,705 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was named All-Pacific Coast League first team.
Woodbridge defensive lineman Kyle Kelley was selected to the All-Orange County first team after collecting 22 sacks. He signed with Arizona.
