2010 All-County baseball team

Aaron Payne, San Clemente, Infield, Sr.: Payne batted .419 and led the Tritons in doubles with 18 and runs scored with 31. He was named to the Orange County All-Star Game. Payne is going to Arkansas on an academics scholarship.

Peter Tago, Dana Hills, Pitcher, Sr.: He was 10-3 with a 2.77 ERA and 96 strikeouts. Tago, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, perhaps was at his best in the playoffs. He struck out 13 in a semifinals victory over El Dorado, and pitched a complete game over Hueneme. Tago pitched a two-hitter against Capistrano Valley, and in the game that put Dana Hills in the playoffs threw a complete game in a victory over Mission Viejo. Also a good hitter, Tago had three hits in a playoff victory over Moopark and drove in two runs while throwing a complete game in a South Coast League victory over San Clemente. Tago, named to the Orange County All-Star Game, signed with Cal State Fullerton, having withdrawn an earlier commitment to UCLA. He was drafted in the supplemental first round by the Colorado Rockies on Monday.

Michael Lorenzen, Fullerton, Outfield, Sr.: He batted .455 with eight runs and 35 RBIs, and was named Freeway League player of the year. In a playoff victory over Calvary Chapel, Lorenzen drove in five runs. He was 4 for 5 with two RBIs in a victory over Sonora that gave the Indians first place for good in the Freeway League. Lorenzen signed with Cal State Fullerton, and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Tuesday.

Beckman's Kevin Lavalle is the 2010 baseball coach of the year.

Andrew Thurman, Orange Lutheran, Pitcher, Sr.: Thurman was 8-2 with a 1.96 ERA and a team-high 72 strikeouts and only 19 walks in 64 innings for the Lancers, who won the Trinity League championship. He was named a Trinity League pitcher of the year. Among his highlights: a two-hitter in a shutout victory over JSerra, and a three-hitter in a victory over West Ranch of Valencia in the Diamond Sports National Classic. Opposing batters hit .185 against him. He was named to the Orange County All-Star Game. Thurman, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, signed with UC Irvine.

Brandon Trinkwon, Beckman, Infield, Sr.: Trinkwon batted .506 with nine home runs, 43 runs scored, 26 RBIs and 15 stolen bases for the Patriots, who went 27-2 and won the Pacific Coast League championship. He was named league player of the year. He had two doubles and two RBIs in a playoff victory over Warren of Downey. Trinkwon also pitched, going 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA. An Orange County All-Star, Trinkwon signed with UC Santa Barbara.

Chris Manning, El Toro, Outfield, Sr.: He led the Sea View League-champion Chargers in home runs, with seven, runs scored (32), and stolen bases (21 on 23 attempts). Manning batted .374 and drove in 26 runs. He homered in El Toro's 7-0 victory over Damien of La Verne in the playoffs. Manning signed with Valparaiso University.

TJ Kendzora, El Toro, Pitcher, Sr.: Kendzora started the season impressively, throwing a no-hitter with 12 stikeouts against JW North of Riverside in the first round of the Loara Tournament. He went on to post a 10-1 record and 1.98 ERA with 92 strikeouts. In the playoffs, he threw a four-hit shutout against Damien of La Verne, struck out five in six innings in a triumph over Loyola of Los Angeles, and struck out two in the seventh inning to get the save in a victory over Pacifica. His string of complete games included Sea View League victories over Trabuco Hills and Foothill. Kendzora, named to play in the Orange County All-Star Game, signed with San Diego State.

Aaron Jones, San Clemente, Catcher, Sr.: Jones batted .467 with nine home runs and 35 RBIs, the team high in each category for the Tritons, and was a South Coast League player of the year. He had two of his better games against Mission Viejo in South Coast League action. Jones had two hits in a 10-3 victory over the Diablos, and homered in a 6-5 triumph. Jones, selected to play in the Orange County All-Star Game, signed with Oregon.

Brennan Fulkerson, El Dorado, First base, Sr.: He was named Century League offensive player of the year after batting .441 with four home runs and 21 RBIs for the Golden Hawks, who advanced to the Division 1 semifinals. Fulkerson was 3 for 3 in a victory over Santiago of Corona in the second round of the playoffs. He had a key base hit to keep a rally going in El Dorado's 2-1 victory over Edison in the Diamond Sports National Classic, and also in that tournament drove in what turned out to be the winning run against Peninsula. Fulkerson signed with Concordia University.

Bret Dahlson, JSerra, DH, Sr.: Dahlson, who played first base and pitched for the Lions, batted .430 with 27 RBIs, and had 37 hits. Dahlson, selected to the Orange County All-Star Game, was 2-2 on the mound with one save and a 2.90 ERA. In the league-opening victory over Santa Margarita, Dahlson was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. He pitched six innings and got the victory in a 12-inning nonleague triumph over Edison. Dahlson signed with Loyola Marymount.

Troy Newman, Esperanza, Infield, Sr.: Newman led the Aztecs with a .418 average, and tied for the team high in hits with 33 while scoring 28 runs. His 14 stolen bases also was a team high. He struck out only three times in 105 play appearances. Newman was named All-Sunset League and was selected to play in the Orange County All-Star Game.

Henry Owens, Edison, Pitcher, Jr.: The 6-foot-7 left-hander dominated. Owens went 9-2 with a 1.67 ERA and a county-leading115 strikeouts and was named Sunset League pitcher of the year. The strikeouts total set an Edison single-season record. He struck out 17 against Newport Harbor, 13 in a two-hitter against Palm Desert in the Diamond Sports National Classic, 12 on two different occasions in Sunset League games against Los Alamitos, and 12 in a one-hitter against La Mirada.

Eric Snyder, Edison, Outfield, Jr.: He was named Sunset League player of the year. Snyder hit .425 with seven home runs for the league-champion Chargers. He hit several clutch home runs, including going the distance in league victories over Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos and Marina. He homered twice against Marina and drove in five runs in one game.

Cory Hahn, continued: Hahn finished with a .411 average and 10 home runs, 24 RBIs, 33 runs scored and eight stolen bases. On the mound he was 14-1 with a 0.89 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings. He signed with Arizona State and was drafted Tuesday by San Diego.

Cory Hahn, Mater Dei, Ut, Sr.: He was Trinity League player of the year, and as dominating as a player could be in the playoffs. He pitched five perfect innings, homered and made the defensive play of the game with a running, over-the-shoulder catch in center field in the Monarchs' 2-0 victory over Dana Hills in the Division 1 championship game.
