MJ Cage had his second of two outstanding back-to-back games in the Nike Extravaganza, scoring 20 points to lead Mater Dei to a 61-53 win over Foothills Christian of El Cajon on Saturday at Mater Dei.
Cage, a 6-foot-10 senior who signed with Oregon, scored 22 points Friday when the Monarchs beat Shadow Mountain of Phoenix, Ariz.
Mater Dei (23-3) is No. 5 in the California state rankings compiled by CalHiSports.com. Foothills Christian (17-4) is No. 4.
Cage was 8 for 13 from the floor Saturday. He was 8 for 10 on Friday. On Saturday, he had seven rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.
Mater Dei took a 7-0 lead and never trailed. The Monarchs had an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, a 24-21 lead at halftime and took a 43-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
Justice Sueing scored nine points and Reagan Lundeen added eight points for the Monarchs.
UCLA-signee T.J. Leaf, a 6-9 senior, led Foothills Christian with 27 points and 12 rebounds. He also blocked three shots.
